Ubbink UK has introduced Ubiflex Extreme – an all-new premium non-lead flashing, to complement its existing highly popular Ubiflex range

Ubiflex Extreme can be used in most applications where lead is traditionally used to provide a weatherproof junction at features. It has been developed for quick and easy installation and to withstand extremely harsh weather conditions, with an extended working temperature range: –30°C to +180°C. It has been BRE tested where it received a Class A fire rating and withstood wind speeds of up to 100mph.
Ubiflex Extreme is manufactured by coating both sides of a reinforced aluminium mesh with silicone sheeting, one side Grey and one side Black. It can be installed with either side visible. This simplifies ordering and reduces the need to stock different colours. The grey silicone sheet surface of Ubiflex Extreme also provides a very close mimic of traditional lead flashing, making it particularly suitable for installations where aesthetics are important. It has all the features of the current Ubiflex B3 range, being lighter and easier to handle with no scrap value.
Significantly quicker to install than lead, Ubiflex Extreme is fully malleable and is not susceptible to thermal movement. It can be worked in all directions, exactly the same way as lead flashing, but without the need for protective measures – and it can be cut with a sharp knife or snips. This means that aprons up to 5m long can be formed without seams or expansion joints – minimising wastage.
Ubbink has also developed ‘Extreme Fix’ as an integrated part of the Ubiflex Extreme non-lead flashing system. This advanced adhesive allows installation in damp conditions, reducing the potential for delays on site.
