Air Excellent semi-rigid ductwork

Air distribution systems using semi-rigid ductwork are now recognised in the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) calculations via Appendix Q and listed in the  Product Characteristics Database (PCDB). They differ from traditional air distribution systems using rigid and flexible ductwork by their radial design. Air is extracted and supplied using distribution boxes and semi-rigid duct runs, which run directly to the wet or habitable rooms.

Ubbink has a wide range of semi-rigid ductwork, branded Air Excellent, which satisfies the guidelines set out in the Domestic Ventilation Compliance guide. The Air Excellent semi-rigid ductwork range includes two semi-rigid ducts with circular cross section and two semi-rigid ducts with semi-circular cross section and associated accessories, which can be combined to satisfy most needs, including screed floors:

  • AE34C (75/63mm)
  • AE35SC (100x55mm)
  • AE55SC (130x60mm)
USP’s of Ubbink’s Air Excellent semi-rigid ductwork:

  • Air Excellent’s radial design minimises system pressure loss;
  • Air Excellent minimises system air leakage by using semi-rigid duct runs and mechanical connections.

    NB Both of the above mean that the ventilation unit will be able to work less hard and minimise energy consumption and noise hindrance.

  • Air Excellent’s easy-to-cut semi-rigid ducts, which are supplied on rolls and mechanical connections make the system very easy and quick to install;
  • Air Excellent mechanical connections (i.e. no tape or sealant) ensure the same air-tight quality of each connection;
  • Air Excellent mechanical connections have the potential to minimise air leakage and improve ventilation effectiveness and energy performance in the long-term, whereas the air tightness of taped connections will probably deteriorate with time.
  • Air Excellent semi-rigid ductwork can be installed in screed floors;
  • Air Excellent is very easy and quick to commission, using commissioning software and air restrictor rings in the distribution box.
  • Single duct runs between the distribution box and rooms make maintenance easier than traditional ducts. NB Effective maintenance will have a positive effect on IAQ and energy performance in the long run.
